Tania Carmona, 37, is set to take one of the most extreme feats in ultrarunning by racing across five deserts in one year, while raising money for children in Mexico


A woman from Glasgow is set to take on a collosal challenge by racing across five deserts in one year.

Tania Carmona, who moved to Scotland five years ago from Mexico, is an avid endurance athlete who always likes to push herself to the limit. In 2024 the 37-year-old is set to take one of the most extreme feats in ultrarunning the grand slam plus.


The task will see the Mexican make her way through some of the harshest conditions across the globe with the first race taking place in March and the last one in April.

She told Glasgow Live: "Every year I need to have an objective.


"I'm not the type of person who works out for the sake of working out. I need to have a goal.

"I create a competition within myself that each challenge needs to be different or bigger than the year before. I don't usually do stage races, I usually do a one day race.
